There are some alternative treatments that you can use to end bed wetting or at least keep it from being a regular problem.  Many of these treatments are combined with more conventional therapies like medication, behavior modification techniques, and moisture alarm.

Alternative healing methods does not have a lot of believers. They actually need more studies for them to be proven as something that is beneficial to people. These methods are not highly recommended since they are not highly successful.

The most common alternative therapies used on bed wetters are acupuncture, massage (or both, combined), homeopathy, and hypnosis. Below are further explanations of these therapies.

According to practitioners of massage therapy, applying pressure to certain points of the body can loosen the muscle and cause relaxation. They say it can also help ease the problem of bed wetting. Massage can also relieve stress that brings about secondary enuresis both in adults and children. It can also improve our blood flow. When combined and performed by an expert, massage and acupuncture can also aid those who wet the bed due to a neurological problem.

Homeopathic remedies, as well as herbal remedies, can also be used on bed wetters. Horsetail, or scientific name Equisetum arvense, is one of the most popular among herbs that can be used. A properly trained homeopathy practitioner treatments “working at the constitutional level, will seek to rebalance the child’s vital force, eliminating the imbalanced behavior of bed-wetting.” Lycopodium, Causticum, and Pulsatilla are some of the ingredients used in homeopathic treatment.

Another alternative treatment to bed wetting is hypnosis. This involves make the bed wetter listen to a tape, training the child’s brain to wake up when the bladder is full and go to the bathroom to empty it. It is very safe, may have only a few negative side effects, is less expensive, and does not consume too much time from both the therapist and the patient.

Recent studies about the effectiveness of hypnotherapy say that the therapy can take as short as four to six sessions before results begin to show. Combining hypnosis with a bed wetting alarm can be very successful.

Whatever form of alternative treatment for bed wetting you decide to try, make sure you let your doctor know about it, including how long the problem has been going on.
